Working with us

Gracie Mead

I returned home to Tauranga and joined the firm in early 2025, having completed my studies at Victoria University of Wellington.

Although I was born in Denver, Colorado, Tauranga has always been part of my life. My family moved to Christchurch when I was 18 months old, then back to Colorado when I was eight, before settling in Tauranga when I was 15.

Before moving here permanently, I spent many holidays visiting my grandparent’s kiwifruit orchard in Te Puke. Some of my favourite memories include walking around Mount Maunganui, going to the hot pools and watching cruise ships leave from Pilot Bay. Those experiences helped build a strong connection to the area long before I eventually returned to live here full-time.

I studied at Victoria University of Wellington, completing a BA/LLB conjoint degree. During my final semester I went on exchange to Esade University in Barcelona, which gave me the opportunity to travel and experience living in Europe. While I loved my time overseas, it also made me appreciate what New Zealand offers, particularly the lifestyle and community feel. After five years studying in a larger city, Tauranga stood out as the place I wanted to return to, to launch my legal career. It’s somewhere with well-regarded firms and a lifestyle where my favourite outdoor activities, such as running, fishing and going to the beach, are easy to
enjoy alongside work.

I chose Sharp Tudhope Lawyers because of its strong reputation, long history, and supportive culture. As the oldest firm in Tauranga, it has deep roots in the community and many long-standing clients.

When the opportunity arose to join the property team, I jumped at it. I now work across both the Family Law and Commercial Property teams, and the Partners have been incredibly supportive in helping me explore this pathway and establish my career.

What stands out most about the firm is the people. The partners and senior lawyers are approachable and genuinely invested in helping junior lawyers develop their skills. The firm is also very close-knit, which creates a supportive and friendly environment, and has made it a great place to start my career.
