The new Incorporated Societies Act is now in force. With the regulations passed, incorporated societies of all shapes and sizes should be thinking about how the law changes impact them and what they need to do to ensure they comply with the new rules and are in a position to re-register under the new Act by 2026.

Some of the key changes that you should keep in mind include:
- Formalising the role of the committee and the officers that sit on that committee
- The process for someone becoming a member of a society
- Confirmation has come via regulation of the size of society that will require auditing
- Imposing more stringent duties on the officers of a society akin to that of a director of a company.
