The Team

Sharp Tudhope welcomes Special Counsel Tanya Drummond

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Tanya Drummond as Special Counsel, a strategic addition to our Corporate and Commercial team.  Tanya joins the firm from Cooney Lees Morgan, where she spent the last eight years as a Senior Associate. Her promotion to Special Counsel is a significant milestone in her career and reinforces Sharp Tudhope’s position as a leader in Corporate and Commercial law.

With a diverse legal background spanning both sides of the Tasman, Tanya brings extensive experience across sectors like SMEs, primary industries, finance and the fast-paced music and events industries. Her expertise broadens the depth and breadth of services we offer our clients, continuing the strategic growth we’ve pursued with recent senior appointments.

As Special Counsel, Tanya will work closely with the firm’s Partners and senior leaders to expand our Corporate and Commercial practice.

“Sharp Tudhope has had a reputation as an outstanding law firm in the Bay of Plenty for a very long time,” Tanya says. “This, coupled with the firm’s progressive partnership and growth mindset, made the opportunity very appealing.”

Partners James Dow and Richard Hoare are enthusiastic about the impact she’ll make.

“We’re excited to see the positive influence Tanya will have on clients and our strategic goals through her extensive experience and strong client relationship skills,” James says.

Richard adds that Tanya’s experience and reputation in the Bay of Plenty business community make her a perfect fit for the firm. “We’re looking forward to seeing how Tanya will contribute to our team’s success and help us achieve even greater things together,” he says.

Tanya’s strong ties to the Bay of Plenty community, including her active involvement with the Tauranga Business Women’s Network, reflect her commitment to championing local businesses and women in business. “I enjoy the relationships that you build being a lawyer in a city like Tauranga,” she says. “By having a strong presence in and ties to the community, I have a deeper understanding of the challenges local businesses may face.”

One of Tanya’s superpowers is her problem-solving ability and her strategic approach to legal issues. “I consider myself, first and foremost, a problem solver. I really enjoy the strategic thinking involved in being a good commercial lawyer,” she says.

Tanya is particularly excited about the collaborative culture at Sharp Tudhope and the opportunity to support local businesses. “I’m looking forward to working with James and Richard to further expand Sharp Tudhope’s offering in the region,” she says. “It’s an exciting time to be part of this firm.”
