Parental leave payments to increase from 1 July

From today, eligible employees will receive an increase in the maximum weekly payment from $621.76 to $661.12 per week gross. The 6.33% increase is in line with the rise in average weekly earnings which is adjusted annually. Self employed parents will receive $200 to $212 gross per week, to reflect the minimum wage increase from 1 April this year.

Eligible parents (both employee and self-employed) are entitled to parental leave payments for up to 26 weeks if they are the primary caregiver for a baby born or coming into their care.

If you are an employer and require assistance with compliance and your obligations in relation to paid parental leave, get in touch with our team who will be happy to assist.
