Community Involvement

Playing an active role in the community and the economic development of our city has always been part of who we are.

At the heart of Sharp Tudhope are our people.  For us, doing business is about respecting our environment, nurturing communities, and embracing innovation for our region to flourish.

This community means everything to us which is why our team members choose to be involved with key industry leaders and charities in Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.

We are active in our support of local charities making a real difference in our region such as Waipuna Hospice, The Graeme Dingle Foundation, Tauranga District Riding for the Disabled and the STEMwana Trust.

During 2021 we celebrated 125 years in business and to acknowledge our birthday we chose to pay it forward and donated lump sums to two local charities doing good things in Tauranga. The charities we chose were the StemWana Trust and The Homes of Hope (chosen by votes from our team).

Supporting future leaders has always been front of mind and in 2022 we launched an annual Graduate Scholarship available to students in the Western Bay of Plenty region keen to explore a career in law. The scholarship provides both financial assistance and mentoring.  The successful applicant receives a $10,000 contribution towards their University fees along with a high level of mentoring.  They are also matched with a mentor from Sharp Tudhope who is available to support them during their studies.

We are passionate about Tauranga and its future and wherever possible take a sustainable approach to the way we work.  We are continuously looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and proud to be the first green star rated building in Tauranga.

Staff Donation Fund

Every year at Sharp Tudhope, our team has the chance to donate to a staff charity fund, with contributions coming straight from their pay. Our Partners generously match those donations, which means we can double the support we give.

The cause we support is chosen by a team vote, and we’re proud to get behind organisations doing great work in our community and beyond.

In 2024, we were inspired by the efforts of Olly, Thomas and Will, three Tauranga teenagers who joined forces to create Cape to Cape, where they took on an 800km journey from Cape Reinga to Cape Egmont to raise funds for the Child Cancer Foundation.  We contributed over $3,000 from our staff fund to support their mission of helping children and families facing cancer.

In 2023 the vote ended in a tie, so supported two incredible local organisations:

This fund is just one of the ways we come together as a team to give back and support local people doing great things.
