What first interested you in studying Law?
In high school, it was always a toss-up between studying to become a nurse or studying to become a lawyer. I knew that I wanted to work in a profession that could help people in difficult situations. Needles and blood make me queasy, so law became the obvious choice.

How would you describe the transition from university to working at Sharp Tudhope Lawyers?
Studying law and practicing it are two very different experiences. Initially, the transition seemed quite daunting. Thankfully, I have a great team that made me feel supported, making the adjustment much smoother.

What do you enjoy most about working at Sharp Tudhope Lawyers?|
One thing I enjoy most about working at Sharp Tudhope is the supportive work environment. There are many opportunities to learn and grow, and it helps that we have a great team of people to work alongside.

What are some of the essential skills a graduate should have?
One of the most important skills to have is strong communication. Being able to communicate well with others will help grow strong connections within the workplace, as well as being able to give deliver clear legal advice to clients.

What do you enjoy most about living in Tauranga?
Nothing beats home. I love being able to catch up with friends, especially over a coffee and walking around Mauao. Tauranga is the perfect medium between city living and living right on the beach.

Describe a typical day as a graduate:
As a graduate, I assist senior staff in a range of different matters, so no two days look the same.  I always start my day by checking emails to plan my workload. With the matters I’m typically involved in, I usually spend my day drafting documents, researching and meeting with clients. When it’s nice out, my workmates and I try to get out to get some steps in around the city.

What advice would you give to someone who is interested in joining Sharp Tudhope as a grad?
My advice to anyone who is interested in joining our team is to be ready to dive into a variety of different tasks. Working in a big law firm means there is a large variety of work available, so I would encourage anyone interested in joining us to be willing to get involved.
