Parental leave payments to increase from 1 July

From today, eligible employees will receive an increase in the maximum weekly payment from $621.76 to $661.12 per week gross. The 6.33% increase is in line with the rise in average weekly earnings which is adjusted annually. Self employed parents will receive $200 to $212 gross per week, to reflect the minimum wage increase from 1 April this year.

Eligible parents (both employee and self-employed) are entitled to parental leave payments for up to 26 weeks if they are the primary caregiver for a baby born or coming into their care.
