As a parent of two young children it’s been really important for me to have the flexibility to deal with the challenges of being a working parent. Both my wife and I work full time so dealing with holidays, winter illnesses, appointments and all the other challenges that come with children can be really difficult. Thankfully Sharp Tudhope have always allowed me the flexibility to do what was needed to be there for my kids.
When my daughter started school early in 2023 we were faced with the challenge of how to deal with school hours. What to do about my daughter who now finished school at 2.30 when both my wife and I were contracted to work until 5pm.
After discussing it with my wife and my supervising Partner I submitted a proposal, which was approved by the Partnership, that would allow me to finish at 2pm three days a week to allow me to do school pick ups.
This has been a huge and welcome change for myself and my family. It’s allowed us to enrol our daughter in lots of after school activities and let her settle into school without adding extra stresses of what she was doing after school.
The team at Sharp Tudhope, and my clients, have been awesome in understanding our circumstances and I often get positive feedback from clients and other contacts that it’s great that the firm really promotes a great work/life balance. I continue to get varied and interesting work and the great team I have around me makes sure that if something needs doing after I am finished for the day, it still gets done.
